Familia, Leadership, Pride

Over the past thirty-five years, the Inland Empire Future Leaders Program (IEFLP) has provided summer leadership development conferences for almost 4,300 Latino eighth- and ninth-grade students from throughout the Inland Empire. The week-long sessions include training in leadership, campaign processes, cultural awareness, college preparation, career choices, citizenship responsibilities, financial literacy, and public speaking. The sessions are dynamic, intensive and fun-filled, but more importantly, we encourage students to strive for academic excellence and to contribute to their schools and community through personal involvement.

The IEFLP Summer Leadership conference is a six-day, overnight conference for eighth- and ninth-grade students that will take place in Idyllwild, CA at the Idyllwild Pines Camp and Conference Center. A nominal $40 fee is requested per participant to help cover costs of the conference t-shirt, conference picture, and other items. (The fee is payable only after a student is accepted to participate.)

Four-year follow-up surveys have indicated that the leadership experience leaves a lasting impression and that it does indeed effectively and positively influence the students. The surveys also indicate a 99 percent high school graduation rate and a 90 percent college-going rate for students participating in the program.

The IEFLP Leadership Conference staff consists entirely of volunteers. All expenses to date have been paid through donations from individuals and organizations. There are no frills in our program. We "make do" and "cut corners" whenever possible. Those of us on staff give of our time and many, many other volunteers of their talents, for example, nurses, instructors, workshop leaders, etc. It is of course, extremely gratifying for all of us in Future Leaders to see our program succeed and make an immediate positive impact in young lives.

Your donation is greatly appreciated. We are an IRS 501(c)3 non-profit tax-exempt organization (IRS ID #33-042-7435). Your donation is tax deductible!

Please consider signing up for monthly contributions through your employer. Some employers will match employee donations.

One hundred percent of your donation goes to Leadership Conference expenses. Please make your check or money order payable to IEFLP. The mailing address for donations is:
